Ann Caldwell founded the Magnolia Singers in 1998. As creative director, Ms. Caldwell and the group have performed for NobelPeace Prize winner, Toni Morrison, Emmy-award winner, Phylicia Rashad, Charleston Mayor Joe Riley, nationally acclaimed artist, Jonathan Green, actor, Isaiah Washington, and many others. The Magnolia Singers performed in the 2007 Charleston Music and Heritage Festival (ChazzFest), the 1999 Piccolo Spoleto Festival and MOJA Arts Festivals, First Night Charleston, 1999, Piccolo Spoleto, 2000, the African Passages Exhibit Dedication at Fort Moultrie, 2009, CBS' The Early Show Summer in the City, July 2007, "The Gullah Culture: A Community, A Music, A Religion," 2009, in Roanoke, VA, "The Art of Sound Music Festival," in Shelby, NC, 2008, etc. The group also performs at weddings, funerals, school functions, etc.
