BITY BOOKER has a unique and quirky style incorporating soft, stunning operatic vocals to rhythmical classical guitar patterns and soft fingerpicking, add the odd bell and the mystery is complete. She grew up in a big isolated house in the Italian countryside in an artistic family with many animals, including horses and tortoises. Her father is an Australian sculptor and her mother an Art teacher at high school in Italy. She started singing at an early age in choirs and at school in theatre performances, she joined her first band aged thirteen. She sung in rock and death metal bands for several years using screaming and growling before moving on to what she calls "acoustic troubles”.
Bity Booker learnt to play guitar in order to accompany her voice and started to perform her own songs live. After graduating, she moved alone to Australia where she started to perform in venues as a solo musician. She played her first solo gig in 2011 in Brisbane. Since then she never stopped performing her original songs and played hundreds of gigs in Australia and Europe. In 2012 she released a self-produced EP "See you @ Elephant Tree", limited to 500 vinyl copies it features an illustrated cover artwork. Each song in the EP was recorded in one take at Damien Gerard Studio in Sydney using the MCI JH24 two inch tape. The EP is now nearly sold out and only few copies are still available at her gigs.
In 2013, Bity Booker travelled to the UK and settled in London. She performs live regularly in folk clubs in London and venues around Europe. She writes songs and creates her own illustrations and artwork. In September 2014 she curated her first music night in London, a packed show at Servant Jazz Quarters in London. She is now planning to organise a special gig on every season of the year. The last special Spring show was at the Betsey Trotwood in May 2015, a Sold-Out gig where the room was turned into a fantasy garden with real plants, illustrated floating butterflies and atmospheric lights. Bity Booker is now working on her next EP and always performing her songs live in her favourite performance venues in Europe. ♫
