"Wild Man Moore" (aka "Wild Man") was written by Duke Ellington, recorded on July 6, 1961, and released on the album entitled First Time! The Count Meets the Duke, in 1961 (highly recommended!)
A different version of the song (seen in this film) was released on the soundtrack album from the film Paris Blues (1961). All of the music for Paris Blues was written by Duke Ellington and performed by his orchestra, featuring Louis Armstrong playing on two tracks and playing the role of Wild Man Moore in the film. Paul Newman, playing the role of Ram Bowen, was coached on the trombone by Billy Byers while the actual playing on the soundtrack was done by Murray McEachern. The soundtrack for Sidney Poitier, playing the role of tenor sax player Eddie Cook, was played by Paul Gonsalves. The soundtrack for the film was recorded between May 1–3, 1961, at Reeves Sound Studios in New York City, and the film was first released on September 27, 1961.
In 1962, Duke Ellington was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Music, Scoring of a Musical Picture, and the Grammy Award for Best Soundtrack Album or Recording or Score from Motion Picture or Television, for Paris Blues (1961). Both awards were lost out to West Side Story (1961).
This scene is the earliest example of the colloquial vernacular "being served" that I'm aware of (see South Park episode, "You Got Served")...
