Teranga Band is a musical project initiated by Samba Niang Daff. Samba is from Guounass, a neighborhood of Dakar, and comes from a family of Fulani griots perpetuating for many decades the musical tradition of Senegal. He therefore naturally turned to music, and in particular to singing. Life brought Samba to settle down in Brussels where he met musicians from different musical backgrounds (jazz, funk, latino...) who will compose with him Teranga Band. Teranga Band presents compositions sung in Wolof and Fulani languages in a mixed style in which reggae flirts with ragga, salsa and cumbia. Topics are as varied as love, family, politics or slavery. "Teranga" is the name given to the hospitality which characterizes the people of Senegal: it is in this perspective that Teranga Band welcomes you at every concert to share a little moment of Senegal, typically from Brussels! www.facebook.com/terangaband
