Fonterossa Day | aspettando il Festival

Dopo due anni di sospensione, torna finalmente Fonterossa Day, il one-day-festival dedicato alle novità discografiche dell’etichetta indipendente Fonterossa Records diretta della contrabbassista e compositrice Silvia Bolognesi; cinque concerti per una giornata ispirata ai suoni d’avanguardia, al free jazz, alla conduction. A chiudere la giornata l’esibizione del Fonterossa Open Lab, un orchestra-laboratorio che da gennaio a giugno ha lavorato su repertori originali dei quattro direttori Cristiano Calcagnile, Giovanni Maier, Fabrizio Puglisi e Günter “Baby” Sommer. Il tutto si svolgerà dalle 17:30 presso il Teatro Sant’Andrea.
 
L’ultimo concerto del pomeriggio nasce da una collaborazione con WE INSIST! Records. È uscito infatti lo scorso ottobre “Cats In The Kitchen”, il progetto del pianista Alberto Braida, con la contrabbassista Silvia Bolognesi e il batterista Cristiano Calcagnile. Brani giocosi ispirati da un disegno armonico della figlia del pianista. Il trio si muove liberamente a partire da “semplici e circolari” composizioni originali a firma del leader.

Pisa Jazz Rebirth 2022 “Attraverso lo specchio”

Il grande Jazz torna all’ombra della torre, con un programma ricco di appuntamenti che alterna grandi nomi italiani e internazionali a giovani promesse. “Attraverso lo specchio”, un invito che il festival rivolge al pubblico, riprendendo il romanzo di Lewis Carrol a 150 anni dalla sua stesura: superare le barriere ed i preconcetti all’insegna della scoperta, della curiosità, dell’approfondimento, con lo spirito di chi sta per intraprendere un viaggio fantastico.

Alberto Braida si è confrontato più volte con la tradizionale formula del trio. Il suo primo disco “Trio 97” (CMC rec.) con Tito Mangialajo Rantzer e Carlo Virzi risale al 1997 e del 2004 è “Di Terra” (Nu Bop Records) con Lisle Ellis e Fabrizio Spera. In Cats in the kitchen ha riunito due musicisti che vantano numerose collaborazioni internazionali e non hanno bisogno di presentazioni. Il trio si muove liberamente a partire da “semplici e circolari” composizioni originali a firma del leader.
 
“Tre gatti sul filo, che sembrano sul punto di cadere e che inaspettatamente e di sorpresa ritrovi in piedi ben saldi. Musica solo apparentemente semplice, come i disegni dei bambini, ma che poi si rivela ricca di dettagli e particolari. I tre gatti giocano con lo stesso gomitolo e si lasciano, il gomitolo sembra sparito, ognuno sembra andare per la sua strada ma il gomitolo ricompare al centro del gioco. Il gioco è gomitolo, il gomitolo è filo, il filo sono i gatti e i gatti sono gomitolo: che meraviglioso groviglio!”

Fonterossa Day | awaiting the festival

After two years of suspension, Fonterossa Day finally returns, the one-day festival dedicated to the new record releases of the independent label Fonterossa Records directed by double bass player and composer Silvia Bolognesi; five concerts for a day inspired by avant-garde sounds, free jazz, and conduction. Closing the day will be the performance of the Fonterossa Open Lab, an orchestra laboratory that, from January to June, worked on original repertoires by the four conductors Cristiano Calcagnile, Giovanni Maier, Fabrizio Puglisi, and Günter 'Baby' Sommer. It will take place from 17.30 at the Teatro Sant'Andrea.
 
The last concert of the afternoon is a collaboration with WE INSIST! Records. Last October saw the release of 'Cats In The Kitchen', the project of pianist Alberto Braida, with double bass player Silvia Bolognesi and drummer Cristiano Calcagnile. Playful tracks inspired by a harmonic design of the pianist's daughter. The trio moves freely from "simple and circular" original compositions by the leader.

Pisa Jazz Rebirth 2022 “Attraverso lo specchio”

Great Jazz returns to the shadow of the tower with a programme full of appointments that alternates great Italian and international names with young promises. "Attraverso lo specchio", an invitation that the festival addresses to the public, taking up Lewis Carrol's novel 150 years after it was written: to overcome barriers and preconceptions in the name of discovery, curiosity, in-depth study, with the spirit of someone about to embark on a fantastic journey.

Alberto Braida has tackled the traditional trio formula several times. His first record, 'Trio 97' (CMC rec.) with Tito Mangialajo Rantzer and Carlo Virzi, dates from 1997, and 'Di Terra' (Nu Bop Records) with Lisle Ellis and Fabrizio Spera from 2004. "Three cats on a string, who seem on the verge of falling and who unexpectedly and surprisingly find themselves standing firmly on their feet. Music that is only apparently simple, like children's drawings, but then reveals itself to be rich in detail and detail. The three cats play with the same ball of wool and break up, the ball seems to have disappeared, each seems to go his own way but the ball reappears in the centre of the game. The game is the ball, the ball is yarn, the yarn is the cats and the cats are the ball: what a wonderful tangle!"
