PCL Presents: Susanne Sundfør
susannear
7:00pm Sunday 11th March 2018
£17.50 + Booking Fee
Susanne Sundfør is a Norwegian singer-songwriter and record producer. Born and raised in Haugesund, Sundfør embarked on her musical career two years prior to the release of her eponymous debut album (2007), which reached number three on the Norwegian album chart. It was followed by Take One, a live album consisting of songs from her debut. Her second studio album, The Brothel, was released in 2010 to commercial success in Norway, peaking at number one and becoming the best-selling album of that year. The album saw a shift from the piano-driven pop from previous releases towards a more ambitious and electronic sound. In 2011, she released a live instrumental album composed solely of synthesizers, A Night at Salle Pleyel, serving as a commission piece.
Her third studio album, The Silicone Veil (2012) topped the Norwegian album chart and received critical acclaim. In 2015, she had her international breakthrough with her fourth studio album, Ten Love Songs, which saw Sundfør experimenting with an electronic dance pop sound. The album reached number one and garnered universal acclaim. Her fifth studio album Music for People in Trouble (2017) represented a departure from the electronic-driven sound of previous records in favor of a return to her roots as a folk singer-songwriter. The album reached number one as well, making it her fourth consecutive album to achieve this feat.

Parkinson: Our Kind Of Music
Michael Parkinson 900 x 560
7:30pm, Saturday 21 April 2018
Tickets £32.50 - includes the booking fee
Alongside his interviewing and writing Sir Michael Parkinson has spent much of his career promoting the appreciation of the music of the Great American Songbook and encouraging those of the new generation who are fighting to keep that flame alive. In the process, he has developed an encyclopaedic knowledge of that genre as well as interviewing some of the greats and finding time to talent spot the likes of Michael Bublé, Diana Krall and Jamie Cullum. But he is much more than a jazzer. His taste in music takes in everything from Razorlight to Paul Simon, The Beatles to Oasis with the consequence that Sir Michael’s seal of approval came to mean a great deal with every record label in the country wanting to bottle his A&R talent.
This passion and love of music in all its forms is celebrated in a new live show. In conversation with his son Mike, using classic clips from the extensive Parkinson archive and featuring live performances by the multi-talented Joe Stilgoe we take a fascinating and entertaining journey to the musical heart of Sir Michael Parkinson via Barnsley, sixties Manchester, Wood Lane and Broadcasting House.
